The NSW State Government Biodiversity Information Working Group (BIWG) has confirmed the planned development of a publically accessible version of BioNet.

Environmental consultants, local government and environmental interests groups have been keen to be allowed access to BioNet; the NSW Government's central species portal. BioNet allows users to search and map the combined flora fauna data of NSW National Parks, Australian Museum, NSW Fisheries, State Forests and the Royal Botanical Gardens.
